Overview
Certified Instructors teach students the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary for the safe, proficient, and ethical use of firearms.
The NRA Instructor Training Courses consists of two parts:
Part one: Basic Instructor Training (Must be current within two-years.)
Part two: The specific discipline training e.g. Rifle, Pistol, Home Firearms Safety, etc.

A PPITHI candidate must:
- Be a NRA Certified Pistol Instructor
- Complete the Pre-course Questionnaire
- Completed the basic PPITH student course
- Completed the PPITHI Pre-course Qualification
- Completed the PPITH and PPITHI exams with a 90% or better
The Pre-course Qualification is conducted prior to or during the course. Only those candidates who pass and meet other specified requirements for NRA instructors are eligible for certification. P3TC offers Pre-course Qualification the morning of PPITHI, or by appointment prior to class.
PPITHI runs about 10 hours. The cost for BIT is not included in the price of this discipline. When you register, be sure to check the calendar for the BIT date and time. Range fees not included.
