INSTRUCTOR:
Ken Lewis
President and Director of Training at the P3TC and the President of the Texas Handgun Association. He is a Range Master, Firearms Instructor, NRA Training Counselor, NRA Practical Pistol Coach Development Staff, NRA/USA Shooting Shotgun Coach, Training and Shooting Range Consultant, a college professor with active security, military, and law enforcement experience, and formerly a National Shooting Sports Foundation Range Action Specialist.

NRA Basic Instructor Training (BIT) is the foundational class for all NRA Instructors. BIT is to improve your teaching techniques and teach you how the NRA wants their curriculum presented. It is taught by NRA Training Counselors and classes are subject to a minimum number of instructor Candidates.
NRA Basic Instructor Training is a non-shooting class taken in conjunction with an NRA instructor discipline.
NRA Certified Instructors are expected to:
- Conduct NRA Basic Courses in accordance with policies and procedures outlined by NRA
- Uphold the quality and integrity of national firearm safety and training standards established by NRA
- Promote firearm safety and the shooting sports
- Report training data to NRA

Who is the course for?
This course is for anyone desiring to obtain an NRA instructor certification. Basic Instructor Training (BIT) shall be accomplished within two (2) years of a new discipline certification.
