Overview

This course introduces the student to the use of handcuffs as temporary restraining devices for safety purposes.

(TCOLE Reporting Number 2040)

This course is not handcuff brand or type specific . This is a basic course that covers use of multiple handcuffing techniques.  Keep a copy of your training certificate for proof of training.

Completing this course will help you:

  • Nomenclature
  • Maintenance
  • Practical application from the basic standing, kneeling, and prone positions

Who is the course for?

Primarily for Law Enforcement and Security professionals, but other persons may use handcuffs under specific legal conditions.

The State of Texas does not have a statuary requirement to be trained before carrying handcuffs.  A person has little chance (in our opinion) of surviving the liability law suits without training and handcuff use policy; this course satisfies that requirement.
