Hunter Education (Online + Field Course)

Overview
Texas hunter born on or after Sept. 2, 1971, must complete this course.
- Minimum age of certification is 9 years of age
- Those age 9 through 16 must complete this Online (+) Field Course, or Classroom course somewhere else
- Those age 17 and above may complete Online-only in lieu of our Online (+) Field Course, but it is less fun
The Online + Field Course is ideal for older youth and adult hunters who have been shooting and/or hunting. For younger students, adults should assist them with the online course and accompany them during the field course. Certification fee is $15. Some instructors may charge an added range or facility fee based on location and use.
The certification process consists of two parts:
- Online coursework: Complete the FREE TPWD online course.
- Register for and attend a “Field Course” with a TPWD-certified hunter education instructor.
Pay your non-refundable $15 fee.
READ and comply with the class information letter. You will not get in class without required documents.
