Overview
FIRST. Complete the online course. The online classroom training section of the LTC‐101 (LTC Online/Handgun Proficiency Certificate of Training) form must be completed and signed by the Approved Online Course Provider after a student has successfully completed the online classroom only training and examination.
SECOND. The student must take the LTC 101 certificate to a qualified LTC Handgun Instructor to complete the [one hour but not more than two hours] handgun proficiency training and handgun proficiency demonstration.
Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) administers the Handgun Licensing Program under the authority of the Texas Government Code Chapter 411, Subchapter H. DPS licenses individuals to carry handguns within Texas, evaluates the eligibility of applicants through criminal history background checks and monitors those currently licensed to ensure their continued eligibility.
Range fee is not included. Handgun rental may be available.
