Security Officer, Level III Renewal Training-nd 02/28/2024

For Level III, Commissioned Security Officers needing to complete Continuing Education (Requalification)/Recertification who have never received baton training, DPS recommends completion of Unit 10 Intermediate Weapons of the full course before completing CE training to ensure adequate training concerning batons. P3TC offers a four-hour Baton Certification course; www.P3TCus.com.
You might be able to get your Texas License to Carry Handgun (LTC) Handgun with a little extra time and nominal charge. Tell your Instructor if you are interested.

COMPLETING THIS COURSE WILL TEACH YOU:
License Renewal (1702.302 TOC)
(d) A person whose license has been expired for one year or more may not renew the license.
A $25 FBI background check is required for all renewals. (35.22 TAC) This is charged by, and done by the State. Security Officer Commission Renewal (1702.309 TOC, 35.83 TAC)
(a) … Only a board-approved instructor may administer the CE course… at least six hours of instruction…
(b) … must demonstrate the proficiency required under Section 1702.1685 within the 90-day period before the date the Commission is renewed.
Continuing Education Requirements (35.161 TAC)
(a) A license or Commission may not be renewed until required CE credits have been earned …
(g) Commissioned Security Officers and Personal Protection Officers shall complete six
(6) hours of CE.…
… Commissioned Security Officers shall submit a firearms proficiency certificate [through TOPS] along with the renewal application.
